On October 13, the World Steel Association Council elected the Executive Committee members of the 2025/2026 in Washington, the United States. Liu Jian, the chairman of HBIS group, was elected. Edwin Basson, the director general of the World Steel Association, presided over the meeting and introduced the progress of relevant matters of the association.

During the meeting, Liu Jian, as a member of the executive committee, with Chairmans or CEOs of globally renowned steel enterprises such as Saudi Steel Corporation, POSCO Holdings of South Korea, Karak Valley Metallurgical Company, JFE Steel Co., LTD., China Baowu Group, Nippon Steel Co., LTD., Jindel Southwest Steel Company, Galdor Steel Company, ArcelorMittal, Shewell Steel Company, Tata Steel, Dexing Group, Nucor Steel Company, and Sinosteel Group, jointly attended the 76th meeting of the Executive Committee.

The executive Committee meeting reviewed and approved relevant matters and conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the progress of adjustments to occupational safety and health principles, the development situation of the steel industry in China and Southeast Asia, the work report of the World Automotive Steel Alliance, the progress of the work of the Construction Steel Alliance, and decarbonization actions in the steel industry.
